Tody Castillo Flies Solo at SugarHill
(HOUSTON, TEXAS) – July 27, 2004 – Multitalented singer/songwriter Tody Castillo is currently recording his first full-length release at SugarHill Recording Studios with Senior Staff Engineer, Steve Christensen.
The untitled album is being recorded in SugarHill’s Studio B and will be mixed in Studio C. The album is set for a mid-September release and will be launched at a handful of shows including Rudyards and an in-store appearance at Cactus Records. Castillo also plans to tour the album in various college towns in Texas, New York and Nashville.
Prior to being a solo act, Tody Castillo started out in 1994 playing various venues in Houston, Texas, where he met drummer Paul Valdez and recorded 2 EP’s under the name of Tody and the Royals. After a brief move to New York in 1999 to work with R’n’B artists as a session musician, Castillo returned to Houston to refocus on writing and playing music. He then rejoined forces with Valdez in 2001 under the new name of Tody and the Falcon, and released another EP.
Castillo has high hopes for this particular record as it is his first release as a solo artist and showcases Castillo’s talent as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, bassist and a producer. The album features long time companion, drummer/percussionist Paul Valdez, Steven Brown and Ryan Biddle on bass (Castillo also plays bass on two tracks), Matt Rhodes on pedal steel and Cameron Dezen on piano and backup vocals.
