(HOUSTON, TEXAS) –September 21st, 2004- SugarHill Recording Studios and President Dan Workman are nominated for the prestigious 2004 TEC Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement for Record Production of an Album. The nomination was given to SugarHill (as Recording Studio) and Dan Workman (as Recording Engineer) for contributions to Beyonce’s multi-platinum album "Dangerously in Love."

As both co-owner of SugarHill Recording Studios and President of Dan Workman Music, Workman is very pleased with the dual nomination. "The TEC Award nomination is a unique honor," Workman said. "It is an industry award acknowledging the making of records as a delicate balance between one’s head (technical excellence) and heart (artistic excellence). Aside from that, it’s just really cool to be nominated along side of so many of my heroes and mentors."

The 20th Annual TEC Awards will be held on October 30th, 2004 at the Marriott Hotel in San Francisco. Founded in 1985, the Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards is the foremost program recognizing the achievements of audio professionals. It is presented annually by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio and honors the individuals, companies and technical innovations behind the sound of recordings, films, TV shows and live performances.

TEC Awards nominations are made by a panel of industry professionals and voted upon by the subscribers of Mix, one of the leading trade magazines of the recording and sound production industry. The awards are presented at a ceremony held each fall during the annual convention of the Audio Engineering Society.
