SugarHill Supports the Arts
(HOUSTON, TEXAS) - March 1st, 2005 - SugarHill Recording Studios is joining a campaign to promote the importance of arts and arts education to legislators, businesses, parents, administrators and school board members.
The campaign is founded by The Texas Coalition for Quality Arts (TCQAE): an organization that represents over forty arts and education organizations in Texas, working to advocate quality fine arts for all Texas students from early childhood to college.
Moreover, The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) will be collaborating with TCQAE to gather lists of registered voters in the state of Texas, who believe it's the state's responsibility to fund fine arts education in schools.
SugarHill joined the campaign, by sponsoring the recording of the signature song for the event "Teach Us ." SugarHill's Chief Engineer Andy Bradley engineered and mixed the song in Studio A.
The song was written by piano singer/songwriter Anita Kruse and produced by Robbie Parrish. Contributing artists include SugarHill veterans such as guitar prodigy Kenny Cordray, Tommie Lee Bradley, John Evans, Sandy Stewart, David Munday and Anthony Sapp.
The song was performed at The Capitol Rotunda in Austin on February 28th, 2005, as part of the Arts Education Day conference, where many of the contributing artists were there to perform the song.
Governor Rick Perry's comments on this important day were: "At no time in the history of this great nation has education been more critical...Texas recognizes the benefits of an education in the arts as part of a well-rounded curriculum."
