Local Band Receives National Acclaim

(HOUSTON, TEXAS) - January 14, 2005 - Houston-based rock quartet Southern Backtones were selected for an ASCAP Audio Portrait on ASCAP.com. The profile features five audio segments which incorporate interview bits from singer/guitarist Hank Schyma, as well as clips from their latest self-titled album.

The CD was tracked and mixed at SugarHill Recording Studios from March to June 2004. Senior Staff Engineer Steve Christensen worked alongside Producer Dan Workman to craft the band's definitive record.  

Since the album's release on October 30, 2004, Southern Backtones have attracted media attention from the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Press, Fort Worth Weekly, and Houston's CBS affiliate, KHOU Channel 11. The band is also featured on a number of music-oriented websites including Rockzilla.net, Download.com, and SplendidZine.com, as well as making Garage Band's (garageband.com) Track of the Day twice.
