SugarHill Tells All

(HOUSTON, TEXAS) – August 6, 2004 – SugarHill Recording Studios’ Chief Engineer Andy Bradley is sharing his wealth of knowledge and over 30 years of experience in the music business in a new class offered by Leisure Learning Unlimited. The class entitled The Sights, Sounds & Stories From SugarHill Recording Studios will provide students insight into SugarHill’s 60 years of music making history and a view into the music production process.

The course which will include a listening party, a studio tour, and a discussion is scheduled to take place during the months of August and November. Students will be able to hear and experience inside recording stories about blues legend Lightnin’ Hopkins who first recorded at SugarHill in 1948, Freddy Fender’s platinum selling albums, Big Bopper’s 1950’s classic "Chantilly Lace", The Rolling Stones, Roy Head, Ted Nugent and Todd Rundgren. Bradley will also cover SugarHill’s recent clients including Destiny’s Child, Beyonce′, Smashmouth, Clay Walker, Brian McKnight and Jermaine Dupri.

Andy Bradley has been in the music production business as a roadie, tour manager, recording engineer and producer since 1973. He has engineered/produced Grammy nominated projects and many of his recordings have achieved RIAA gold record certification, especially in the Latin and Tejano categories. Currently, Bradley is spearheading a written and recorded biography chronicling the past 60 years of music making history at SugarHill Studios.

When Bradley is not leading the way at SugarHill, he works as the chief of recording services for Rice University's prestigious Shepherd School of Music, and sits on the NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) Texas Board of Governors.
