Legendary Trumpeter Takes SugarHill by Storm

(HOUSTON, TEXAS) -November 22, 2004--Legendary blues trumpet player and former B.B. King band leader and arranger Calvin Owens is working closely with SugarHill Recording Studios' Chief Engineer Andy Bradley on 5 simultaneous projects.

The first of the projects is a recently completed full-length album titled The Calvin Owens Show. Released in October 2004, the highly anticipated album was quoted by the great B.B. King as: "If you like good music this CD is for you".

Tracked in SugarHill's Studio A and mixed in Studio C, the album features Owens' 24- member Blues Orchestra in conjunction with a funk rhythm section played by renowned musicians Marvin Sparks on drums & percussion and Keith Vivens on bass.

This will be followed by The Calvin Owens Show, Volume 2, with an expected release at the end of 2005.

Owens and Bradley are also working on an album titled True Blue. The 12-year project began with tracking in Europe in 1992 and continued with overdubs at SugarHill Recording Studios in Houston, as well as facilities in Memphis and New York. The album, which features the legendary B.B. King on guitar and David "Fathead" Newman, will be showcased at the prestigious Midem Conference in France this year. The conference is a meeting ground for independent and major record companies, music publishers, and online and traditional distributors to network and explore new business. The album, previously released in the US and Europe in 1993, is set for re-release in the US in mid-2005.

Owens plans to release a Live DVD of his performances at the historic Eldorado Ballroom and the Kemah Festival in Houston, 2003. Bradley is currently mixing the audio in SugarHill's Studio C. Owens will release the currently untitled video next year.

Lastly, Owens and Bradley are working on a Rap Remix album. It once again features Calvin Owens with his Blue Orchestra Band with a variety of guest rappers. The music is a compilation of Owens' work over the last 15 years and is set for a mid-2005 release.
