Arthur Yoria Mixes at SugarHill
(HOUSTON, TEXAS) – March 25th, 2004 – SugarHill’s Senior Staff Engineer, Steve Christensen was busy mixing Arthur Yoria’s latest project Suerte Mijo, a 5 song Spanish-language EP that was tracked on an 8-track in Yoria’s living room and mixed in SugarHill’s Studio C.
Arthur Yoria is Houston’s critically acclaimed singer/songwriter who has won over fans and critics with his first full-length 2003 album I’ll Be Here Awake. With influences from Argentinean singer/songwriter Piero, Jason Falkner, Brendan Benson and Owsley, Yoria sets himself apart by his vocals, gorgeous melodies and radio friendly guitar pop. Songs from I’ll Be Here Awake have been featured in MTV's "Camp Jim” and FOX's “The OC”, in addition to several independent films.
The new EP Suerte Mijo, was produced by Yoria; he programmed the bass and drums and played guitars (except slide) and some keyboards. Christensen helped co-produce the last track on the album called Este Metodo.
Guest appearances on the album include Tony Vega (Slide Guitar), Ian Varley (of funk/jazz band Drop Trio on Rhodes and Piano) and Edo (Background Vocals).
“I did this 5-song EP on a whim. I was actually looking for an excuse to go hang out in Spain. They have a thriving indie-rock scene over there right now, so I'm going to shop this to some small labels in Barcelona and Madrid with the hopes of getting to do some shows out there this summer.”
Yoria does not plan to release this album yet, but he plans to do a mid-west tour next month to promote his other English-language albums.
